Eye Makeup Tips Learn how to create the look of an eye lift with the proper choice of eye shadow color and application. Lesson for Deep Set Eyes: About 80% of the population has deep set eyes! Do you? Here’s how to find out! Dig out that makeup mirror then set it directly in front of you and study your eyes. What do you see? Do you see eyes that appear small and seem to recede? Do you see very little or no-lid showing? Do you see sagging skin folds on your upper lid? Do you see excess eye lid fat (puffiness)? If you see most of the above - you have deep set eyes! Can’t afford an eye lift? Don’t want to go under the knife? Here is how to create the look of a $5,000 eye lift by following my instructions in a few easy steps. Try the following makeup technique on only one eye to see the lifting effect using the “light and dark” theory - light brings forward... dark recedes. Step One - Take a makeup sponge and put a little foundation on your eye area. This step makes the shadows go on smooth and last longer. Dust lightly with translucent powder. Make sure it’s translucent (no color). Step Two - Using a light contrast color to your eye color, such as no blue shadow with blue eyes, or no green shadow with green eyes. Hint - plum and pink shadows look great with blue, green, or brown eyes. Using a sponge eye applicator, put light eye shadow over the lid and eye ball area. Blend well. Using a eye shadow brush along with a deeper color shadow, such as plum, brown or grey, with the eye open - place the brush in the crease of the eye and brush the shadow in the crease and up slightly up on the brow bone (to recede the brow bone). Blend well! Make sure that the light shadow is still light and you haven’t made it dark by applying the dark in the crease. Step Three - Line lightly under the lower lashes with a charcoal eyeliner pencil (charcoal is softer than black). Smudge the liner lightly with a cotton swab in order to make the liner look more natural. Step Four - Using a dark brown or black mascara (I mostly use black water-resistant, not waterproof mascara), place the mascara brush up against the lid of the lashes. Coat the lid and then pull the brush through the lashes. Coat them very well. Curl lashes before mascara is applied if necessary. Step Five - Now put a little blush on the brow area that doesn’t have dark shadow on it. Usually it’s just a small area just under the brow. Do not put white or light shadow in this area, as light brings forward and this is not what you want to do here. Now - study the eye with the makeup compared to the “naked eye”. More Eye Tips: 1. To keep eye brows smooth and neatly arched, set them with a clear mascara. 2. Always remove all eye makeup before going to sleep. Use eye makeup remover or a mild cleanser. Be sure to rinse well and apply a light eye cream. 3. To make your eyes appear larger - apply several layers of mascara at the base of your lashes. Move the mascara wand back and forth at the roots and then bring it through the lashes to the tips. Put extra mascara on the outer corner lashes to open the eye more. Curl the lashes before the application of mascara if necessary. 4. To help reduce puffiness under the eye area. Apply a cold compress and hold there for 30 - 40 seconds or so. Cold reduces fluids that accumulate there. |
